Bilingual Transporter- St. PJ's Children's Home

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday/8:30am-5pm

Summary:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Program Director, the Transporter is responsible for the coordination and implementation of transportation services to include the escort and safe delivery of UAC to their release destination. The Transporter keeps the Assistant Program Director informed of any transportation concerns or needs, to include vehicle issues, booking difficulties and change of travel plans. The Transporter is required to be on-call based upon programmatic needs. 

Position Responsibilities:

• *Coordinating purchase of travel tickets and communicating travel plans with sponsors.
• *Maintaining supervision and ensuring the safety and well-being of UAC while in transport.
• *Anticipating transportation needs of the program and coordinating efforts to complete.
• *Ensuring that all vehicle registration and insurance documentation is available in vehicles.
• *Ensuring that documentation for transportation is completed in accordance with agency policy, DFPS Minimum Standards and ORR Policy.
• Maintaining the safety and well-being of children through supervision, adherence to program policies, and appropriate      interventions. This may include the use of approved crisis management techniques, such as physical containment, when necessary to protect the child or others from harm.
• Deliver client services and all daily interactions within the Sanctuary Model framework.
• Documenting and reporting to supervisor all serious incidents completely, accurately and in a timely manner to include vehicle      accident reports.
• Utilizing positive child management techniques  including verbal redirection, de-escalation and containment, if necessary.
• Reporting to work in a timely manner as assigned and scheduled.
• Abiding by traffic laws and agency transportation policies.
• Ensuring transportation services are provided in a manner that promotes best practices and facilitates the optimum delivery      of quality trauma informed care to UAC.
• Assuming ON-CALL duties after regular business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Actively participating in the enhancement and/or improvement of the living and working environment for residents and      employees.
• Attending administrative staff meetings, staff retreats, and other team building activities.
• Demonstrating knowledge and sensitivity of cultural norms, values and heritage.
• Attendance and successful completion of a 10- day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency.
• Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner
• Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, and others.  
• Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Education and Experience 
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum one-year experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting;
• License and Credentials
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must maintain valid vehicle liability insurance. 

Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children;

• Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
• MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases
• DTaP or DTap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one DTaP dose in adulthood.
• Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.
• COVID-19: Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two doses of Pfizer-BioNTech; or two doses of Moderna; or one dose of       Janssen), with appropriate boosters if they become necessary. An individual is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after their final dose. Additional dose(s): a third vaccine dose for certain groups of people, or booster dose(s) as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Word, Excel) and a variety of online database systems, managing files and records, designing forms and other office procedures and terminology;
• Strong analytical and organization skills and abilities;
• Must be able to read and interpret policy, procedures and standards;
• Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
• Must have good written and verbal skills;
• Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• Must be able to remain calm and composed in crisis situations;
• Supervisory experience required;
• *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 75% local and 15% overnight.
