Billing and Coding Specialists-Requirements & Responsibilities
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential required
- 2+ years of experience in medical billing and coding
- Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding for outpatient therapy and behavioral health services, including psychological evaluations, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and mental health services
- Familiarity with Medicaid and commercial payer documentation requirements
- Experience reviewing clinical documentation for coding and reimbursement
- Proficiency with EMR and billing systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Review clinical documentation and apply accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for services including psychological assessments, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and mental health treatment
- Ensure all coding complies with Medicaid and commercial insurance billing rules and documentation requirements
- Collaborate with clinicians and billing staff to support compliant documentation and reduce denials
- Assist with claim submission, payment posting, and resolution of coding-related denials
- Stay current on payer policies, coding updates, and documentation standards
- Support the development of internal coding protocols, reference tools, and documentation templates
