Key Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility and ensure accurate charge entry
• Prepare and submit clean claims to payers both electronically and via paper
• Research and resolve denied or unpaid claims to maximize reimbursement
• Post payments from patients and insurance providers accurately in the practice management system
• Respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and excellent customer service
• Work aged accounts and follow up with third-party payers
• Interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and apply knowledge to billing adjustments
• Collaborate with insurance representatives to resolve claim issues
• Monitor claim submission deadlines and ensure compliance with state and federal programs
• Identify billing trends or recurring issues and report to management

Requirements

• Minimum of one year of experience in a medical billing or reimbursement role, or equivalent education and training
• Working knowledge of medical coding terminology (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and healthcare reimbursement processes
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word) and experience with practice management systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Customer-focused mindset and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
