Billing Specialist Job Description
To ensure effective billing for the services working with the company’s personnel and through liaison with other organizations and individuals also providing care to the patient-client Also , to help in other areas of the clerical department as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of a high school or with some years of high school education (no diploma required)
Preferably experienced within Home Health LTC Billing
Evidence of knowledge of home care environment; Ability to work under stress and to take rapid actions
Verbal and written communication skills
Good organization skills
Computer skills and knowledge of the billing process
PHYSICAL REQUERIMENTS

PERFORMANCE, ABILITIES AND STANDARDS
Create invoices for the services that the patient receives
Analysis the data and bills the third payers, and or the patient when appropriate under the guidance of the hilling manager. Ensure HIPAA guidelines and procedures are maintained.
Keeps track of the payments and post the payments against the invoices
Keeps tracks of denials and inaccurate payment.
Understands the principles of payment ledger, generates tables and flow charts according to the services referral sources and / or payments sources
Keeps track of the late payments and maintains the aging accounts payable
The billing clerk, under the guidance of the billing manager /Administrator will communicate with other organizations or individuals when this is necessary for the patient’s service reimbursement
The billing clerk will be aware of the responsibilities of all organizations and individuals involved in patient’s / client’s care/service including the coverage for the services rendered
The billing clerk will make sure that there are no duplications in billing for the services provided. If a duplication is found immediate corrective action will be taken
The billing clerk will be involved in the communication with the prayer. The communication with the paying source will be as frequent as the situation warrants
The billing clerk will participate in education conferences, meetings, in-services and training for policy and procedures modifications, emergency response and preparedness plan.
The billing clerk gives accurate information to clients, client’s families and other professionals involved in patient care/service
Documents all communications in the communication notes from the patient charts. The billing clerk will be a qualified person who understands the principles of ambulatory diagnostic services has the education necessary according to the requirements of his/her job description , and applicable law and regulation , has knowledge and experience , and has the orientation to all the services he or she will be billing for understand the staff responsibilities associated with each level of service provided , has knowledge of the patient population served , has knowledge , and experienced appropriate to defined responsibilities an according to Policy
