About the Position 

The BIM Modeler 1 works out of Stansell Electric’s Nashville office, assisting in all aspects of delivering projects by providing detailed installation information to our field teams. The VDC Specialist I must show strong math and analytical skills, experience with design software, and extreme attention to detail commensurate to the satisfactory completion of position’s primary duties and responsibilities.  Advancement opportunities are available by advancing to more senior positions or through transfer to skilled trades.

How You’ll Make a Difference 

• Assist project teams in delivering projects safely and successfully by providing detailed fabrication and installation information.


• Work in conjunction with and under the guidance of the Lead Modeler.


• Ability to correctly read construction blueprints, especially electrical blueprints.


• Be able to work following the company’s strict Injury Free guidelines.


• Receive models and turn them into readable blueprints – adding details for the field team to be able to execute a project.


• Basic 2D and 3D modeling of systems within AutoCad/Revit.


• Organize and maintain existing drawing libraries.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 


• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.


• Possession of good hearing and vision, normal or corrected.


• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.


• Strong math and computer skills


• Strong time management skills


• Ability to work within a team to solve problems and accurately communicate the solution


• Ability to communicate effectively with both field teams and Project Managers


• Experience with AutoCAD, REVIT, Bluebeam or similar computer aided design software


• Ability to read and review construction documents


• Basic Experience in the electrical field


• Proficient in Microsoft Office


• Must be very detailed oriented

Education and Experience 

• 1+ years of experience in a VDC/BIM related role OR, 


• Electrical field experience, OR, 


• Equivalent coursework in a construction related field
