Bindery Machine Operator

Description

SUMMARY

The bindery operator is responsible for reviewing the daily schedule and completing the work as required to meet the expectations of our clients. The bindery operator must communicate all issues with the bindery manager, supervisor or bindery lead on duty. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review daily schedule and coordinate with pressroom and die cutting on expected material arrival.
• Understand work as it relates to both finishing and delivery date. 
• Read and understand the job ticket/work instructions and review proofs (when applicable).
• Capture all costs associated with a job utilizing data collection system.
• Perform bindery operations: cutting, creasing, folding, stitching, collating, shrink-wrapping as it relates to the job.
• Tag material as required for internal Hatteras movements utilizing material movement tags.
• Communicate with bindery manager, supervisor or lead on duty, on the status of jobs throughout shift.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment per equipment user manuals.
• Keep an organized work area while working and also when shift is finished

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Must have 3 years’ experience on bindery equipment (cutter, creaser, stitcher)
• Must have a collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while producing accurate high-quality products.
• Ability to effectively communicate. 
• Good attention to detail.
