Under the direction of the Bindery Manager, the Bindery Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating all cutting equipment to prepare products for collation or binding. This role ensures all jobs meet customer specifications in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Review job tickets and plan work processes to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
Set up assigned machines to specifications, obtain approval for setup, and run products.
Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.
Unload machines and stack materials on carts.
Ensure completion of jobs meeting quality and quantity requirements.
Perform routine machine maintenance according to departmental procedures.
Troubleshoot machine issues, resolving them when possible, and escalate to Lead Cutter or Manager as needed.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Maintain all required paperwork, records, and documents.
Follow all safety and work rules and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
1-3 years of related experience in a bindery or printing environment preferred.
Combination of education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend job tickets, customer specifications, and work instructions.
Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions.
Experience operating bindery equipment, including flat cutters, die cutters, perfect binders, folders, and sheeters.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand, use hands, and operate machinery.
Frequently required to walk, use foot pedals, and communicate effectively.
Occasionally required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Compensation:
The base compensation range for this full-time position is $22.00 - $26.00 per hour, plus benefits. Compensation ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
