Biomed Tech II

Summary of Essential Functions

• The BioMed Tech II independently performs advanced inspection, maintenance, and repair of medical equipment, coordinates vendor service, and ensures regulatory compliance, service as a technical resource for the team.

Educational Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or related field preferred.

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician.

Certification/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Adaptability to new technologies and willingness to learn emerging medical device platforms.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.

• Frequent standing, walking, and bending during equipment service.

• Ability to work in hospital and ambulatory clinic environments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on medical equipment.

• Coordinate vendor service and manage complex repairs.

• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other relevant standards.

• Participate in project initiatives and lead small technical projects as assigned.

• Mentors and trains junior technicians.

• Document all work performed and maintain accurate service records.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

• Participate in cost containment and resource management efforts.
