ABOUT CHILDREN’S COUNCIL

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Black ECE Fellowship is designed to support the retention, engagement and continued professional development of graduates from the Black ECE Career Development Pipeline. This program recognizes the importance of providing intentional investments to retain Black early educators working in the ECE field. We aim to support new and seasoned early educators by providing a sense of community, connections to professional development opportunities, space for collective healing and learning, along with tools to foster a lasting career in the Early Childhood Education field.



The Fellowship Coordinator will support the development of a growth and retention strategy for Black early educators. This role will assist in the design and development of strategic supports to strengthen the capacity of graduates from the Black ECE Career Development Pipeline. The coordinator will assist in ensuring the successful placement, transition, and connection of our Black ECE pipeline graduates. This role will work closely with licensed child care sites citywide, staffing agencies and community partners serving as a liaison with employers and administrators to facilitate placements, permit attainment, employment and continuing education of our graduates. The Fellowship Coordinator will develop and manage workforce readiness portfolios for graduates tracking coursework completion, on the job training hours and other program activities. They will assist in planning and coordination of Fellowship activities and gatherings for our Black ECE pipeline graduates including, data tracking and input, and a variety of other duties as assigned.

  • You have Early Childhood Education (ECE) coaching or social service experience



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide administrative support to Black ECE graduates working to obtain a permit, gain employment, or professionally advance in the ECE field. Administrative support might include copying, faxing, responsive communication (phone, email, in person, virtual), drafting templates (request for transcripts, certificates completion, resumes), purchasing of supplies, scheduling meetings and events.

  • Provide career pathway assistance to Black ECE graduates by developing resources and connecting them to professional development advisors, staffing agencies, and continuing education opportunities.

  • Assist the team and internal partners in designing and coordinating community building and networking sessions for Black ECE graduates, including virtual and in person interactive workshops and events.

  • Provide support in evaluating the Black ECE Fellowship program offerings and make recommendations for changes/improvements.

  • Responsible for tracking Black ECE Fellowship program activities and engagement of graduates and community partners, gathering data, and completing reports.

  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing assigned spending, creates check requests using collected documentation for reimbursements with the project.

  • Attend Children’s Council and city-wide partner meetings and events as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Two years’ experience in a service-oriented role, preferably in a non-profit organization. AA degree preferred.

  • Excellent administrative/organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet multiple deadlines.

  • Knowledge or experience working with the African American/Black community.

  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency and experience working with database entry and Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education programs, Child Development programs (child development permits are a plus).

  • Ability to work independently in a structured environment.

  • Flexibility to work an occasional evening and weekend.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
Must be able to move throughout the office, access files, meet with clients, travel freely.
Requires the mental acuity to perform the essential functions as outlined in an accurate and timely fashion.



Hybrid Work  
We have adopted a hybrid working model and currently require employees to be present in the office at least 3 days per week, with the option to work 2 days per week remotely. Applicants should be comfortable with both the remote and in office scenarios.
