Job Description - Blade Composite Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY


The purpose of this position is to use experience and knowledge of fiberglass composite repairs, materials, processes, and procedures to provide repair dispositions and guidance to field service technicians, leads, and supervisors.  This position also provides direct support to the Project Management team in terms of scope of work, timing, and materials for repairs for quoting purposes.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Repair instructions focusing on safety, quality, and cycle time

  • Repair dispositions for severe blade damages

  • Application solutions for aero upgrade projects, etc.

  • Continuous Improvement and productivity projects

  • Serve as a repair process technical expert and will also be responsible for mentoring and training Field Specialists and Lead Technicians

  • Bring safety, quality, and productivity into delivered solutions

  • Lead / Participate for problem solving, root cause analysis, standardization, and best practice sharing, and technical review.

  • Perform FMEA of New Product / Technology Introduction projects

  • Make technical decisions by application of specialized knowledge / skills

  • Work with internal stakeholders to identify / test / implement new materials / solutions

  • Serve as engineering point of contact when discussing and agreeing on repair plans with customer engineering.

  • Oversee and manage field specialists as direct reports

  • All other duties as assigned


EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS



  • Ability and willingness to travel

  • Ability and willingness to climb wind turbine towers and work at heights

  • Engineering Degree, Mechanical or Materials

  • Composite material background

  • Fluent written and oral skills in English and local language

  • Experience in Wind Turbine Industry, specifically in fiberglass composite repairs

  • Experience with tooling, lifting devices, or machine design

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related discipline

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in composite engineering

  • Current driver’s license

Base Pay Range
$115,000$135,000 USD
