Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Blaster/Grinder to support surface preparation operations in an industrial or fabrication environment. This Blaster/Grinder role is responsible for abrasive blasting of metal parts and structures to prepare surfaces for coating, painting, or finishing. The Blaster/Grinder position is ideal for candidates with at least 3 years of hands-on blasting experience and a strong understanding of safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Blaster or Sandblaster in an industrial, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
• Experience blasting carbon steel and other metal materials
• Knowledge of surface preparation standards and quality expectations
• Ability to operate blasting equipment safely and efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and quality

Key Responsibilities

The Blaster/Grinder role includes the following duties:

• Perform abrasive blasting (sand, grit, or other media) on metal parts and assemblies
• Prepare surfaces according to job specifications and quality requirements
• Set up, operate, and maintain blasting equipment and blasting booths
• Select appropriate blasting media and pressure settings based on material and job requirements
• Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure proper surface profile and cleanliness
• Maintain a clean and safe blasting area
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and respiratory protection
• Assist with basic shop tasks as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with paint or coating departments
• Familiarity with different blasting media (grit, sand, steel shot, etc.)
• Prior experience in a fabrication or structural steel shop

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in confined or enclosed blasting areas

Work Environment

• Industrial shop or blasting booth environment
• Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment
• PPE and respiratory protection required
