Body Shop Assistant

Job Summary:

Repairs and readies damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares vehicles for body repair work. 


• Performs basic tasks such as cleaning, sanding, masking and moving vehicles safely.


• Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.


• Track and manage parts, materials, and supplies used in the repair process. 


• Support technicians with vehicle inspections, documenting damages, and reporting discrepancies.


• Assist in keeping workflow efficient, helping ensure timely vehicle delivery to customers. 


• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, shop procedures, and certified repair standards.


• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.


• Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles. 


• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA RighttoKnow, etc. 


• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 


• Dealership collision repair experience preferred.


• Ability to follow instructions accurately in a team environment. 


• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.


• Strong work ethic.


• Good communication skills to coordinate with technicians and team members.


• Must have manual dexterity, good judgment and ability to operate power and hand tools and other types of machinery safely and efficiently.


• Valid driver’s license required for essential job functions and occasional travel for relevant training courses.
