Position Summary 


  


Just 65 miles from Center City Philadelphia, Allentown is near many major Northeastern U.S. cities, which makes it an ideal location for manufacturing and distributing consumer goods. We utilize thermal processing and high-speed canning to produce varieties of our Friskies®, Beneful® and Pro Plan® brands—product lines that we have carefully produced, packaged, and shipped since 1958. Together, we contribute to Allentown's identity as a busy industrial city, as well as a beautiful rural environment that we are truly proud to call home. That’s why we not only make high quality food for pets but our factory is also doing our part to care for the environment we share, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal. 


  


As a Boiler Attendant, you'll operate, maintain, and oversee steam boilers, air compressors, well water system, reverse osmosis system, and all associated equipment, perform water/chemical treatments, and maintain accurate records. You will be responsible for troubleshooting equipment issues as necessary. 


  



  • Maintain all mechanical components including but not limited to: valves, pumps, steam traps, piping, etc., within the boiler, compressed air, and water treatment systems, as well as associated auxiliary equipment. 



  • Perform water testing as needed, on boiler feed-water, condensate, boiler water and plant cooling water.  Adjust chemical feeds to maintain proper levels based on the results of the chemical tests. 



  • Prepare water treatment and boiler chemicals as required, in a safe manner, using proper personal protective equipment. 



  • Maintain accurate records pertaining to systems operation, testing, evaluation, and maintenance, performed on all related equipment. 



  • Diagnose and correct operational problems associated with any of the systems in their area of responsibility. 



  • Assist and cooperate with outside contractors and vendors in the troubleshooting and repair of all associated equipment. 


 


Requirements 



  • High School diploma or GED required. 



  • 3+ years of experience operating industrial boilers  
     


Other 



  • Experience with water chemistry and testing preferred 



  • Experience with air compressors and dryers preferred  
      


The approximate hourly pay for this position is $40.39. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
