Job Description - Bookkeeper

Block LLP is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial operations and ensure accurate, compliant recordkeeping. The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment where accuracy is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update financial records, ledgers, and accounting systems on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Prepare and send invoices, including legal billing formats (hourly, contingency, or flat-fee).
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and trust/IOLTA accounts in compliance with state bar requirements.
  • Track expenses, reimbursements, settlements, and disbursements.
  • Assist with payroll processing and employee expense tracking.
  • Generate financial reports for partners, including monthly statements, forecasting summaries, and budget updates.
  • Monitor case-related costs and ensure they are properly allocated and recorded.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical financial files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

Full-time or part-time

Compensation:

$25.00 - $30.00 /hr

  • Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Solid knowledge of standard bookkeeping principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy across high-volume transactions.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working closely with attorneys, staff, and vendors.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
