We're looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper & Payroll Accountant to join our team in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, managing general ledger and payroll activities, and supporting month and quarter-end close processes. You'll work closely with various departments to analyze inventory data, maintain compliance with internal controls, and drive continuous improvement in accounting practices.

  • Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to the operations
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, cost of goods sold, freight, and vendor accruals.
  • Manage accounts receivable and billing process
  • Prepare the filing of the monthly sales tax and record journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to sales tax.
  • Process semi monthly payroll, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and 401(k) contributions
  • Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Manage accounts payable
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Month-end closing process – including analytical analyses of revenues, cost of goods sold, customers, and suppliers
  • File and reconcile payroll taxes and other statutory reports
  • Support external audits by providing documentation and ensuring adherence to internal controls
  • Bookkeeping or Accounting Certificate
  • 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping and payroll experience in the U.S., including sales tax.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and payroll regulations – an advantage
  • Familiarity with payroll systems (such as ADP, Paychex, or similar) — strong advantage.
  • Proficiency with SAP Business ByDesign, COSTGUARD, or equivalent ERP systems (advantageous).
  • Advanced Excel skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience with SOX compliance - an advantage.
