Job Description - Bookkeeper (Purchasing)

Responsible for supporting accounting operations by performing a full range of accounting responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the Accounting Manager in the processing of financial statements including reconciliation of general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and posting the related journal entries by comparing statements with general ledger.

2. Processes purchasing of supplies and equipment for the entire Center according to the Center’s purchasing Policies and Procedures upon receiving approved purchase requests for every location on a timely basis.

3. Evaluates order and bid documentation (e.g. requisitions, change orders, bids, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper use of the Center’s funds in the acquisition of supplies, equipment and/or services.

4. Maintains purchasing information, files and records (e.g. Requests for Proposal, purchase orders, vendor files, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and procedures.

5. Ensure that all support documentation is provided accurately and on a timely basis to Accounts Payables.

6. Provides excellent internal/external customer service via telephone, fax or face-to-face contact to assist patients with their health care needs.

7. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in Accounting highly preferred
Must be detailed oriented and PC proficient
Must have proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications especially in Excel
Must have 1-3 years progressive experience in accounting or related position, preferably in a health care environment
Must be able to type 40 wpm and 10-key by touch
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change



PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.

Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.

Physical: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. May have to lift folders, files, papers, audio/video equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 25 lbs.
