Job Description - Bookkeeper/AP/AR/Payroll

Summary


Provide a full range of bookkeeping and office support for successful wildland fire and fuels management operations and implement strategic planning for future operations.

Skill Sets



  • Technical Skills – Proficient with MS Windows and Office software for word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Ability to learn new programs and train others. 

  • Problem Solving – Utilize knowledge of payroll, A/R, A/P to resolve issues with employees and vendors. Able to provide direction to staff to investigate, summarize and provide solutions for problems.  Able to prioritize during emergency situations.

  • Computer skills – Knowledge and understanding of database structures and ability to write queries to discover and correct errors.

  • Communication – Ability to write instructive material and to communicate complex problems to programmers/developers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Oversee all aspects of bookkeeping including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger

  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, budgets and forecasts

  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial reports/records

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation of tax, 401K, draw, garnishment/support accounts

  • Tax preparation, registrations and compliance. Prepare summary for estimated tax payments

  • Provide financial reports and analysis to management

  • Manage audits, prepare materials and coordinate with external auditors

  • Update tables for workers comp, apply payroll updates as provided by software vendors

  • Maintain process and procedure controls to safeguard company assets

  • Prepare multi-state payroll summaries for submission to CPA for year-end tax preparation

  • Adjust workers comp, general liability premiums based on operations for current year

  • Other duties as assigned


 


Supervisory Responsibilities


Supervise staff of 3-5 personnel.  Provide direction for daily task completion and planning for future events



Education and/or Experience


A high school education or equivalent is required. A 2 or 4-year college degree preferred.  Related business classes and/or college courses beneficial.  Proven experience as a bookkeeper or  financial management skills required. Must have experience with accounting software (Sage preferred).  Experience with Crystal Reports a plus.  A good understanding and application of accounting fundamentals.



Physical Demands


Most of the activity required for this position is conducted from the desk so there is a considerable amount of time sitting and interfacing with a computer, mouse and keyboard.  May need to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.



Work Environment


Office area conditions include working independently with minimal supervision and in conjunction with other staff members.


 


Rate of Pay: Rate of pay is based upon experience and tenure according to company pay schedule, with credit given for work time and experience outside of Grayback Forestry, Inc.
