The Breakfast Attendant is responsible for providing guests with a clean, welcoming, and well-stocked breakfast experience. This position prepares and maintains the Holiday Inn Express breakfast area, ensures food is available and presented according to brand standards, maintains proper sanitation and food-safety practices, and provides friendly and attentive service to every guest.
The Breakfast Attendant plays an important role in creating a positive guest experience and is expected to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, cleanliness, and excellent customer service.
Arrive on time and have the breakfast area completely prepared and ready for guests by the required opening time.
Prepare and set up hot and cold breakfast items according to Holiday Inn Express brand standards and property procedures.
Monitor breakfast items throughout service and replenish food, beverages, condiments, utensils, and supplies as needed.
Ensure food is prepared, stored, held, and served at appropriate temperatures.
Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and health-department requirements.
Check food quality and expiration dates and properly rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized breakfast area throughout the entire breakfast period.
Clean tables, chairs, counters, serving areas, equipment, and other surfaces as needed.
Remove trash and replace liners throughout breakfast service.
Keep coffee, juice, milk, and other beverage stations clean and fully stocked.
Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Assist guests with questions or requests related to breakfast and hotel services.
Communicate guest concerns or maintenance issues to the Front Desk or management.
Monitor guest traffic and prepare additional food as necessary to minimize shortages and waste.
Properly break down the breakfast area after service.
Clean and sanitize breakfast equipment, dishes, utensils, counters, floors, and food-preparation areas.
Properly store remaining food and supplies according to hotel procedures and food-safety requirements.
Maintain an organized breakfast storage and pantry area.
Complete required cleaning, temperature, inventory, or food-preparation logs.
Notify management when food or supplies are running low so orders can be placed before items are depleted.
Assist with receiving and properly storing breakfast deliveries when needed.
Follow hotel safety, security, uniform, and attendance policies.
Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
The Breakfast Attendant is expected to:
Acknowledge and greet guests entering the breakfast area.
Maintain a friendly, approachable, and professional attitude.
Keep the breakfast area presentable even during busy periods.
Respond promptly to spills, empty food items, overflowing trash, and guest requests.
Avoid excessive personal phone use while working.
Remain attentive to the breakfast area and guest needs throughout the shift.
Help create the welcoming and consistent experience expected from a Holiday Inn Express & Suites.
Previous food service, hospitality, restaurant, or customer-service experience preferred but not required.
Ability to provide friendly and professional guest service.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Must be dependable and able to report to work for early-morning shifts.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management.
Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
Standing and walking for extended periods.
Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.
Safely lifting and carrying food, beverages, supplies, and equipment.
Working around hot food, hot surfaces, kitchen equipment, and cleaning products.
Performing repetitive cleaning and food-preparation tasks.
This position primarily requires early-morning availability, including weekends and holidays. Scheduling is based on hotel occupancy and operational needs. Reliable and punctual attendance is an essential requirement of the position.
