General Responsibilities/Job Summary
This position is responsible for the production of fertile eggs to the hatchery in a quantity that meets Company goals, seeking continuous improvement in both operating efficiency and quality while focusing on excellence in Animal Welfare.
The role involves collaborating with various departments, including management and veterinary services, to establish long-term strategies and objectives for the company. Key responsibilities include planning breeder needs and production goals, managing breeder and developer operations to ensure flock health and performance, and maintaining compliance with regulations. The position also requires developing strategies for improving flock uniformity and productivity, managing relationships with producers, and overseeing annual reviews and employee development programs. Additionally, the individual will ensure effective communication across departments, maintain documentation, and promote a safe work environment. Regular field monitoring and updates to facilities and equipment are also essential duties of the position.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree (poultry or other agricultural related degree is preferred) and/or equivalent related work experience, to include 7-10 years of poultry management experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
o Track record of accomplishments in improving live production results
o Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor others to help them achieve their capabilities and meet company expectations
o Technical abilities to work with Company related IT solutions and software
o Ability to coordinate scheduling of live production results with processing demand
o Ability to effectively communicate with all constituents.
o Proficient with Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
o Experience with MTech
Experience:
o Must have knowledge in all aspect of a live poultry production company (breeding, hatchery, laying, grow out, live haul as well as animal welfare & handling)
o Experience complying with USDA, EPA & OSHA rules & regulations
o Budgeting and P&L experience
Certification/Licenses:
o Valid Drivers’ License
o Experience in animal husbandry/animal welfare
Travel Requirements:
o Travel will be expected
Physical and Mental Job Requirements
o Ability to easily move throughout all facets of Live Operations and Processing Plant.
o Periods of long standing and/or walking is expected
o Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time; read and analyze reports.
o Ability to lift 25 lbs.
Working Conditions
o Office and outdoor working conditions are expected
