Area Director – IDD Services


Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Human Services or a related field (Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Public Administration, etc.).


Experience: Minimum of 3 years of residential management experience in the IDD field.


Certifications/Licenses: QIDP required.


Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.


Work Location Requirement: Onsite position.

About the Role


The Area Director for IDD Services provides operational oversight, staff supervision, and program compliance across assigned residential programs. This role ensures quality service delivery, regulatory adherence, fiscal stability, and effective incident management while collaborating with leadership to support strategic planning and program development.


Primary Responsibilities


- Provide supervision and oversight of daily operations across assigned IDD residential programs.


- Supervise Residence Managers, Assistant Residence Managers, Clinical Staff, Direct Support Professionals, and other assigned team members.


- Develop and maintain oversight systems to ensure quality care, OPWDD regulatory compliance, and adherence to agency policies.


- Develop and implement Plans of Corrective Action in response to internal, state, or federal audits.


- Monitor staffing levels to ensure adequate coverage aligned with the needs of individuals served.


- Oversee the management of bank accounts and in‑house funds for persons receiving services.


- Conduct routine inspections of physical plant and fire safety equipment; ensure corrective actions for life‑safety hazards.


- Oversee clinical services and ensure coordinated service delivery.


- Monitor fiscal performance of assigned programs and participate in efforts to maintain financial stability.


- Collaborate with DDRO and OPWDD officials on program development, planning, and enhancement initiatives.


- Participate in strategic planning for the IDD Services Division.


- Monitor incident trends and implement effective corrective actions.


- Ensure timely reporting of all incidents and participation in Incident Review Committee meetings.


- Ensure implementation of committee recommendations and follow‑up actions.


- Perform other duties as assigned.
