Job Description - Building and Facilities Technician
The SPCA Westchester is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician who is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day upkeep of the SPCA Westchester’s buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role places a strong emphasis on ensuring that the facility remains clean, safe, and welcoming to our clients, employees, and volunteers. Additionally, the Technician will oversee the maintenance of the electrical and mechanical equipment, including HVAC systems.

This is a full time, Monday – Friday position.
Key Responsibilities
Building Maintenance
Perform regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs, potential safety hazards, or areas for improvement.
Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
Work with external contractors and vendors for major repairs, installations, or inspections.
Oversee the maintenance of SPCA’s fire, security, HVAC and other critical facility systems and infrastructure.
Oversee recycling and trash pickup as well as fuel deliveries.
Maintain cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with sanitation standards and shelter protocols.
Oversee and manage cleaning company's role.
Monitor inventory of janitorial supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure adequate stock levels.
Ensure restrooms, communal areas, and workspaces are fully stocked, sanitized, and well-maintained.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes -conducting regular safety inspections and maintaining records.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and keep all tools and equipment in good working condition.
Qualifications and Skills
3+ years of proven experience in facilities maintenance or applicable field.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
Ability to work well with outside vendors and contractors.
Manage time effectively while involved in multiple tasks.
Valid driver’s license.
Position requires individuals to be able to use general maintenance equipment including, but not limited to, hand tools, power tools, ladders, landscaping equipment, and required safety equipment.
Knowledge of safety procedures with a safety conscious attitude.
Position requires the ability to: walk; reach with hands and arms; stand for a minimum of 6-8 hours; lift/or move 50 lbs; the ability to stoop, kneel and crouch; the ability to climb a ladder and balance.
The Facilities and Building Technician will primarily work on-site at SPCA Westchester.
The technician works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
