Position Overview:
HLA is seeking a dedicated and flexible Building Substitute/Paraprofessional to join our team. This hybrid role provides instructional support in classrooms and serves as a substitute teacher when needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, adaptable across grade levels, and passionate about supporting student learning and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a substitute teacher for classroom teachers in grades K–5 when assigned.


• Follow lesson plans and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.


• Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support under teacher guidance.


• Assist classroom teachers with instructional preparation and classroom management.


• Support students with special needs, following accommodations outlined in IEPs/504 plans.


• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal.


• Uphold school policies and model professionalism at all times.


• Contribute to the school’s mission of “Every Student, Every Day.”

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).


• Missouri Substitute or Paraprofessional Certification


• Previous experience in an educational setting preferred.


• Strong communication and classroom management skills.


• Ability to collaborate with staff and support diverse student needs.


• Flexibility and reliability in covering various grade levels and classrooms.
