The Coastal MicroEco Lab needs to hire an adjunct research scientist to work with including managing the labs’ computational infrastructure, developing custom pipelines for laboratory bioinformatics analysis and training students in their use, and analyzing existing datasets for rapid publication.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Maintaining and designing laboratory computational and bioinformatics standards and protocols

• Conduct computational analysis on existing datasets

• Develop laboratory pipelines for amplicon and metagenomic analyses, working closely with students to ensure the pipelines meets their analysis needs.

• Train students (including development of a half-day in-person workshop) on the use and application of the above pipelines

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

• PhD in microbial ecology, natural resources, ecosystem science, biogeochemistry and at least two years of experience related to the area of research

• Strong bioinformatics and data science qualifications including machine learning, HPC computing expertise, coding in R, or other statistical programming language required.

• Expertise in computational microbial ‘omics analyses (previous hands-on experience of laboratory analyses preferred), data science

Compensation Pay Range:

$45 per hour
