Summary:

This is a training position serving as pipeline toward a regular or part time Bus Driver position after successfully completing lecture based and hands on NCDOT DMV required training to obtain a Class B CDL and required endorsements in preparation to provide safe, efficient and on-time transportation of children to and from assigned schools on a daily basis.

Note: This is a temporary, training level position under the direction of the certified CDL holder. Candidates who do not complete the license requirement will not be offered employment with CMS.

Essential Duties:

Obeys all Federal, State, and Local laws, policies, regulations, administrative codes and transportation operation guidelines.
Obeys all traffic laws; observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. This includes clearing the school bus and evacuating students quickly in the event of an emergency.
Maintains safe driver standards and applicable physical and dexterity standards.
Perform duties identified by the NCDOT DEPS to achieve School Bus Certification.
Education and Experience:

Minimum At least 6 months driving experience as a licensed operator of a motor vehicle. (No previous bus driving experience required.)
Must have a Commercial Learners Permit
Ability to read, write, and follow directions (written and oral)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Licensing / Certification Requirements: Have the ability to obtain, a valid Class B commercial driver?s license with Passenger and School Bus (P&S) endorsements, and a valid school bus driver certification issued by the NCDMV within 30 days.
Commercial driver license (CDL) holders and applicants must meet the medical qualifications set by the NC General Statute Medical Qualifications Standards Applicable to Commercial Drivers.
