Job Summary

The Business Analyst — Data & Business Intelligence is responsible for analyzing business data, developing actionable insights, supporting reporting and dashboard initiatives, and translating business requirements into data-driven solutions. This position works closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, data engineers, IT teams, and management to improve decision-making through accurate and meaningful business intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for data, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.

• Work with stakeholders to understand business objectives, performance challenges, reporting needs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, patterns, opportunities, and areas requiring improvement.

• Develop and maintain business intelligence reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.

• Create clear and actionable data visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.

• Write SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze data from databases and other data sources.

• Translate business requirements into data requirements, reporting specifications, and analytical solutions.

• Define and document KPIs, business metrics, calculations, and data definitions.

• Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure the accuracy and consistency of reports and dashboards.

• Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams to identify data sources and improve data availability and quality.

• Conduct data profiling, data quality analysis, and root-cause analysis when reporting discrepancies occur.

• Support the development and maintenance of data models and reporting datasets.

• Analyze historical and current business performance to identify trends and provide insights to management.

• Develop ad-hoc reports and analyses to support business decisions.

• Assist management in interpreting dashboards, reports, and analytical results.

• Monitor business performance against established KPIs, targets, and objectives.

• Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports and improve reporting efficiency.

• Support data-driven process improvement and business transformation initiatives.

• Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for BI reports, dashboards, and data solutions.

• Document reporting processes, data sources, business rules, calculations, and requirements.

• Ensure business intelligence solutions align with data governance, security, and organizational standards.

• Present analytical findings and recommendations to business stakeholders and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Business Administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

• 2–5 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or another business intelligence platform.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data analysis.

• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.

• Understanding of data analysis, reporting, KPIs, and business intelligence concepts.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to translate business needs into clear data and reporting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT processes.

• Knowledge of data modeling and dimensional modeling concepts.

• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

• Experience with Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Knowledge of business process analysis and process improvement.

• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

• Experience with Python or R for data analysis.

• Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and master data management.

• Experience supporting enterprise reporting or BI implementations.
