Job Description - Business Development Associate - Start Immediately

Green Top Farms was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher who was troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. For the last seven years we have built a high volume food service, catering and delivery business. Throughout that time we have remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. We spent the majority of our energies during the COVID-19 pandemic serving NYC City Agencies in the provision of food for the underserved, as well as non-profit agencies throughout NYC.

Our mission is to build a more sustainable and equitable food system, starting by reconnecting consumers and local farmers. We believe the results of strengthening that connection are better nutrition, more tasty food, greater social justice, and reduced environmental impacts. Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most.

What You’ll Do:

  • Solicit new catering customers through traditional and non-traditional sales techniques, including cold calling, direct outside sales, and relationship building
  • Build brand loyalty to GTF through different mediums, following the sales process, sharing our mission, and utilizing assigned sales tools
  • Utilizes reports to track sales results such as customer’s frequency, sales, and average sales per order and analyzes current trends to maximize sales results
  • Keep supervisor abreast of progress through daily activity logs, phone calls, attending weekly conference calls and scheduling events in team calendar
  • Effectively demonstrates required sales techniques to build sales and provide ongoing support of the customer and gain repeat orders
  • Assist in catering and client deliveries and events as needed - these events may take place outside of normal working hours, but will be notified in advance 
  • Receive and enter inbound orders and maintain relationship w/ new contacts
  • Marketing meeting Hubspot reporting
  • Data entry into inventory management and  point-of-sale systems with meticulous attention to detail
  • Share pertinent feedback from clients to all appropriate department heads 
  • Grow existing client's business by meeting and excelling their needs and keeping them aware of our business updates and other ways we can help them outside of drop off (ex. enterprise service). Also staying aware of changes to their business such as client's contact person staying up to date, office headcount changes, location, etc.

Who You Are: 

  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required
  • Working knowledge of Excel, and Google Workspace; familiar with manufacturing inventory management systems
  • 2+ years of varied administrative, customer service, sales/outreach experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong tech and creative problem-solving skills
  • Passionate about local food and nutrition, and on a mission to reach folks with better food.
  • Must have flexible schedule availability
