Job Description - Business Development Coordinator, Physician Support

Description

Position Title: Business Development Coordinator

Department: Physician Support

Reports to: Senior Director, Physician Support

Classification: Full Time, Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is responsible for identifying sources of non-dues revenue from government, foundation, and corporate prospects that support the mission of PAMED. Collaborating with the appropriate PAMED departments the BDC develops and submits proposals, work statements, pilot projects, etc. to appropriate organizations. S/he is also responsible for the monitoring and quality assurance of such proposals, work statement, pilot projects, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Research, identify, and qualify potential revenue sources compatible with PAMED’s mission and strategic plan that will expand business operations. 
  2. Develop proposals, work statements, pilot projects, etc. by working closely with various staff teams to gather necessary information; prepare information according to guidelines and ensure compliance with requirements. 
  3. Identify vendors of services of value to PAMED members and explore possible partnership opportunities. Vet vendors who contact PAMED seeking partnerships.
  4. Working with PAMED Legal Counsel, develop and execute contracts with external partners.
  5. Recommend new opportunities, products/services, lines of business, etc. for PAMED based on physicians’ needs and market trends.
  6. Prioritize and manage projects to adhere to established timelines. 
  7. Prepare written briefs, articles, summaries, reports, etc.
  8. Acts on the company culture by advocating with a supportive attitude, educating people while respecting them and their ideas, and navigating using active listening skills.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Assist with coordination of other PAMED initiatives, as well as other duties that may be requested or assigned.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Operation of a motor vehicle, occasionally

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skill/Education/Knowledge

  • 3 years of experience in the development or management and/or business development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business development, marketing, or related field preferred
  • Experience in identifying business opportunities
  • Prior knowledge of physician engagement and/or physician practices and health care systems preferred
  • Strong skills in establishing and maintaining external industry partnerships
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Creative thinker with an analytical mind and ability to think critically
  • Ability to work independently and problem solve with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to track multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across various staff teams, members, and other stakeholders

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Periodic occasions requiring overnight stay/travel and/or evening meetings and teleconferences. The position does not routinely require a commitment to after-hours or weekend hours. Attendance at the Annual House of Delegates meeting.
