Job Description - Business Development Data Analyst

The Doctors Company Business Development team has an opportunity for an a Business Development Data Analyst. This is a hybrid opportunity at one of The Doctors' Company's offices, such as Napa, CA, East Lansing, MI, Austin, TX or Jacksonville, FL.

Reporting to the VP of Business Development this role involves managing the execution of the departments data strategies and business intelligence projects in support of business development strategies and tactics. Responsibilities include analyzing market trends, deep analysis and reporting of agent and broker distribution metrics and trends including agency acquisition activity, and evaluation of agent production performance to identify growth opportunities and improve business development strategies. Key responsibilities include overseeing business development data analysis projects, ensuring data quality and efficiency, and working with business development leaders to translating data insights into actionable business strategies.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
3-5 years in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, demonstrating a strong track record of applying data analytics in business settings.
Property and Casualty insurance experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with data analysis tools and methodologies with industry-specific knowledge.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (Excel, SQL, Python, R), business intelligence software (Tableau, Power BI, Qlikview), and database management and data warehousing concepts.
Analytical Skills: Strong ability in statistical analysis, data interpretation, and problem-solving and attention to detail.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the specific industry, such as medical professional liability insurance.
Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Project Management: Skills in managing projects, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
Teamwork and Collaboration: Capacity to work effectively in team settings and collaborate across departments.
Salary Range: $82,328 - $101,700

Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Reporting

Focuses on extracting, cleaning, and analyzing data pertinent to medical professional liability insurance, including production by company, by distribution channel, product segment, program, and territory.
The analyst will use advanced data analytics tools to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in large datasets.
Build and keep up-to-date reports and dashboards to offer the Business Development team practical insights, covering product dynamics, customer trends, premium analysis, and financial performance.
Maintain data accuracy and reliability, analyze findings, and communicate insights clearly to aid the department's strategic objectives.
Excel in simplifying complex data into clear, visually engaging formats to support decision-making.
Market Research and Insights

The analyst will be responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data regarding industry trends and competitor strategies, with the objective of identifying potential revenue opportunities across various market segments and distribution channels. This includes analyzing stakeholder (customer / broker) needs and preferences to identify potential market opportunities and challenges.
The role involves synthesizing complex market data into clear, actionable insights in support of business development strategy.
The analyst is expected to stay abreast of the latest industry developments and utilize various research methodologies to provide a robust understanding of the market landscape, contributing to informed decision-making and strategic planning within the company.
Assist in the market research initiatives for business development to enhance agent and broker distribution channels
Strategy Development Support

Aiding the strategic planning process by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
The analyst will work closely with the Business Development team to identify new business opportunities and areas for operational improvement.
Responsibilities include analyzing data to assess the viability of potential strategies, forecasting market trends, and evaluating the impact of various deparment initiatives.
The analyst plays a critical role in bridging the gap between data analysis and strategic decision-making, ensuring that business development strategies and tactics are informed by accurate and meaningful data insights.
Collaboration and Communication

Effectively interacting and collaborating with various departments, especially the Business Development team in HQ and region.
The role requires clear and concise communication of complex data insights in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
Participation in meetings and strategy sessions, offering data-driven perspectives.
Establish strong working relationships across the organization to facilitate the seamless flow of information and ensure that data strategies are aligned with overall business objectives
Technical Knowledge & Professional Development

Professional development goals are employee or management-led objectives to accomplish during a particular time period. (Continuing Education, professional organizations, research, improve job performance, or increased duties and responsibilities, skill-based training, job assignments, etc.)
Other duties as assigned

Assists with a variety of department and enterprise-wide projects including department research, surveys, and department audits
Assisting in ad-hoc data requests or special projects.
Participating in cross-functional team efforts outside of standard BI tasks.
Conducting training sessions or presentations on data-related topics.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of data governance policies.
Providing support for software/tool upgrades or implementations related to data analysis.
