The Business Development Director is a senior strategic leader responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth and long-term financial resilience for Jefferson Center. This role designs and executes a comprehensive business development strategy with a core focus on diversifying funding streams and reducing reliance on any single source of revenue. This position is accountable for generating new revenue, securing strategic partnerships, and structuring financially viable growth opportunities that expand the Center’s impact. Working in close partnership with executive leadership, finance, clinical, and development teams, the Director identifies, develops, and closes high-value opportunities across public, private, and philanthropic sectors.
Education, Knowledge & Experience:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, public administration, or related field – Behavioral Health experience a plus
8–10+ years of experience in business development, revenue growth, or strategic partnerships in health care related filed – Behavioral Health experience a plus
Demonstrated success in securing and managing multiple funding streams (e.g., government contracts, grants, partnerships, earned revenue)
Proven ability to close deals and manage complex negotiations
Strong financial and strategic acumen, including experience with revenue modeling and forecasting
Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills
Experience writing bid proposals, grant proposals and reports and collateral materials to support behavioral health business development campaigns
Excellent negotiation skills
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or related)
Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or human services sectors
Knowledge of Medicaid, public funding mechanisms, and value-based care models
Experience working with large, multi-stakeholder partnerships
Essential Duties:
Develop and execute a multi-year business development strategy aligned with Jefferson Center’s strategic plan and growth objectives
Build and manage a balanced funding portfolio, including:
Government contracts and grants
Foundation funding
Corporate partnerships and sponsorships
Earned revenue and fee-for-service models
Optimize the organization’s revenue mix to mitigate risk and ensure sustainability
Build and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline, including identification, qualification, forecasting, and conversion tracking
Lead end-to-end business development processes and collaborated with internal partners for:
Opportunity identification/cultivation
Proposal development
Pricing strategy
Contract negotiation
Originate, structure, and close revenue opportunities and contracts with:
Healthcare systems and provider networks
Payers and managed care organizations
Government agencies
Corporate and institutional partners
Lead and coordinate negotiations and complex deal structuring
Develop strategic partnerships that expand access while delivering sustainable financial return and scalability
Identify and evaluate new service lines, markets, and monetization models
Assess industry trends, policy shifts, and funding changes impacting behavioral health and human services
Translate market insights into actionable strategies that drive growth and competitive positioning
Partner with clinical, program, finance, and development teams to ensure alignment between:
Mission and impact goals
Program design and financial viability
Revenue strategy and operational capacity
Align with Development to ensure philanthropic strategies complement earned and contracted revenue growth
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to diversified revenue and strategic growth
Provide regular updates to GLO and executive leadership as appropriate on:
Pipeline progress
Revenue forecasts
Strategic opportunities and risks
Help foster a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
Other Duties:
Exhibit enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility and spirit of cooperation in the work environment
Maintain effective interpersonal relations and work well with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management , visitors and general publish.
Demonstrate a willingness to work nights, weekends and holiday as necessary
Must be willing to travel and have reliable transportation to attend meetings, events, conferences and other meetings.
Other duties/projects as assigned
Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to manage against deadlines while maintaining quality and consistency.

Salary Range: $94,100.00 to $116,700*
Additional Salary Information*:
The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
Jefferson Center pay is determined by various factors including education level, licensure level, years of relative experience, and internal equity amongst current staff.
