MKR is recruiting a Business Development Director who is capable of identifying, pursuing and winning strategic and tactical new business opportunities. This individual is responsible for agency prospecting and the complete RFP process, including development of all written materials. They'll be able to leverage their current depth of knowledge of digital and offline marketing, and technology, along with a swiftly acquired knowledge of agency history, case studies, current business and strategic direction.

Overall, to drive new business activity, participating wherever appropriate in the planning, implementation and follow-up of such activity. More specifically, to be involved in the following areas:?
Information Gathering?
Demonstrates a contagious passion for the business and an insatiable desire to stay on top of trends, innovations and news shaping our industryPresent strong understanding of the marketing function, including what drives CMO/Director-level decisions, and has experience leveraging business imperatives into a compelling agency story and win strategyDirect Lead Generation
Direct new business development against specific targets/industries as part of our growth strategy"Opportunistic" solicitation (cold contacting based on industry tips, leads, etc.)Proactively attends networking events and industry functions that are aligned with targeted verticalsMaintains ongoing relationships with professional leadsPartners closely with agency marketing team and agency leadership to develop a prospecting list and develop a plan to activate exciting, new partnerships and respond to timely prospecting signalsManagement
Leads the development, and often writes, prospecting, marketing, case study and proposal materials - refreshing as needed to make sure most exciting and relevant story/work is utilizedManages an annual growth budget & timelineRFP Process
Leads the agency RFP process from start-to-finish (including writing responses, handling prospect-agency communications, guiding roles, and consulting on timelines), identifying opportunities, elevating our output and acting as the pillar of the broader agency team.Uses historical knowledge and new insights to write and sell the agency's unique valueNew business pitch presentation showmanship - can act as the new business lead in the room when askedQUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field10 years experience in an agency environment, ideally in business development, client services/account management, operations,, strategyAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small- and large-group situations to clients, members of senior management, prospective clients and other employees of both the agency and the client organizationDemonstrated interpersonal skills in complex and challenging timeline driven environmentsStrong writing skills, including RFP responses and client correspondenceWins the admiration, transparency and support from others - clients, consultants and cross-functional agency team includedThrives in fast-paced, high-pressure situations with a competitive fire, big-thinking skills and commitment to achieving resultsProven project, pitch and meeting management skills through strong attention to detail across multiple workstreamsHighly organized, attention to detail, and strong follow-throughsAbility to develop strong relationships with clients by gaining trust and repeated successful delivery of expectationsThorough knowledge of the principles of advertising, marketing and media.A basic knowledge of disciplines underlying these principles, i.e., psychology, economics, etc.WHO IS MKR?
