Job Description - Business Development Representative

​* Simple Staffing is hiring for this position on behalf of Fide Freight *

Freight brokerage moves $80 billion a year in the U.S. alone. It's the people who connect companies that need to ship products with the trucks that move them. It's sales. It's relationships. It's solving real problems for real businesses.

It's also one of the few industries where you can start with zero experience, build a book of business that's yours, and turn it into a long career. The reps making the most money in freight today didn't come from a logistics background; they came in willing to learn, work hard, and put in the reps.

  • You can have a real conversation on the phone. This is a sales job. You'll be talking to people every day.
  • You're willing to learn an entire industry from scratch. We'll teach you. You have to show up ready to absorb.
  • You'll take coaching. Our best people are the ones who hear feedback and use it.
  • You want a career, not a 90-day stint. We hire slow because we're building something long-term. Come in with that mindset.

About the role

You'll be a Business Development Rep, finding companies that need to ship freight and helping them get it moved. You'll learn how to prospect, how to have sales conversations, how to build relationships, and how to manage a book of business that's yours.

This is an entry-level role with a real career path. Reps at Fide get promoted on merit, not tenure. If you're good, you'll move up. If you're great, you'll move up fast.

What the day-to-day actually looks like

You'll be in our Grand Rapids office, at a desk, with the team. Most of your day is on the phone; making calls, having conversations, and building your pipeline. Some of it is research, planning, and learning. Some of it is training and shadowing.

It's a phone job. If that doesn't excite you, this isn't the role.

You'll be successful here if:
