Job Description - Business Office Manager - Skilled Nursing Facility (Medicare, Medicaid, SNF, LTC)


  • Manage all financial operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility, with a focus on Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay billing, collections, and reimbursement processes specific to long-term care.
  • Oversee month-end closing, census reconciliation, and resident trust fund accounting in compliance with CMS regulations.
  • Ensure full compliance with state, federal, and CMS requirements related to financial and administrative operations in a skilled nursing environment.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for accurate billing, timely collections, and proper documentation to support audits and state surveys.
  • Collaborate with clinical and admissions teams to ensure accurate payer source setup, authorization tracking, and documentation for MDS and PDPM processes.
  • Manage SNF billing procedures, accounts receivable management, and resident financial counseling.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, insurance representatives, and regulatory agencies, ensuring contracts and services support facility operations.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field (or equivalent work experience in long-term care financial management).
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Business Office Manager or similar role in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) 
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and private pay reimbursement processes, including PDPM.
  • Proven experience managing accounts receivable, census reconciliation, and resident trust funds in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Familiarity with SNF billing software (e.g., PointClickCare, MatrixCare, or similar).
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills, with the ability to train and mentor business office personnel in skilled nursing financial processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
