Job Description - Business Office Specialist II


Full Time; M-F- 8a-5p

History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.

Summary of Responsibilities: 

Preforms clerical duties pertaining to receipt and accounting of funds being paid to the organization. This role also serves as an auditor for daily reconciliation of monies taken for each department and mail. Ensures proper accounting procedures are followed to account for the receipt of payment for services completed by the organization. Research and follow up on unpaid accounts. General A/R duties. Answers multi-line telephone using department procedures in routing and transferring calls. Assist with getting Medical Records requests. Suspended report. Medicare One FIN Encounter. Employee payroll deductions. Self-pay Refund/Credits. Workers Compensation Follow up. Post payments for Home Health and provides Monthly Reports.     


Requirements

Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Typing speed of 45 wpm, operation of ten-key adding machine/calculator. Familiar with operating personal computers, and knowledge of general clerical duties, knowledge of laws pertaining to collections activities. 
  • One (1) year of office experience and previous collection experience preferred.
