Business Reporter

The Oklahoma City Journal Record/BridgeTower Media is seeking an experienced, digitally savvy Business Reporter who can work with a strong team to create quality journalism. The ideal candidate is someone who can tell thoughtful and engaging stories to not only inform, but to boost readership. 

This is a hybrid position that reports in-office two days per week and requires local travel. Must be based in or around Oklahoma City. 

Duties + Responsibilities

• Report on and write news and feature stories for the company's general news publications
• Attend and cover appropriate legal events
• Develop innovative ideas for writing news
• Stay up to date on the latest news and events
• Research local stories and prepare interview questions as required
• Discuss and develop ideas to write strong and sophisticated stories to attract readers
• Research, write and submit stories within established timelines
• Write profile stories in unique and interesting ways to increase readership

Skills + Requirements

• 2+ years of journalism experience or related field
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Familiarity with AI and generative language models
• Experience with a B2B niche product experience is a plus
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Comfort with public speaking
• Ability to build strong relationships with key legal leaders throughout the state
• Reliable home internet connection with minimum 50mbps up/10mbps down
