This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position.  All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary position is located at 333 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh - Wake County, with the Office of State Human Resources.   

 
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  
 
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants. 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process invoices, matching invoices, including travel reimbursements, workers' comp payments, using the Department of Administration (DOA) SharePoint site.

  • Responsible for the Local Government and Learning Development billing, collection, reconciliation, reporting activities, and delinquency notifications and referrals to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

  • Coordinate the use of the Department of Revenue (DOR) Debt Setoff Program for delinquent accounts.

  • Provide effective supervision for the Administrative Support associate and reception services.

Management Preferences:  

  • Ability to perform research, data collection, analysis of information, and report writing.

  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to facilitate and ensure the application of sound business practices.

  • May require the ability to integrate policies and procedures with work units external to the organization. 

  • Ability to develop and edit written documents and reports of information that usually spans across functional areas.

  • Ability to provide documentation to explain and support conclusions.

  • Ability to communicate interpretative information that application of sound business practices.

  • May require the ability to integrate policies and procedures with work units external to the organization. Thorough knowledge of the organization’s accounting and budget procedures.

  • Ability to approve expenditures and manage a unit or program budget, typically comprised of several funding sources. 

  • Ability to compile and summarize financial data to participate in budget analysis and forecasting.

  • Ability to assess and resolve problems that require research and review of policy and procedures.

  •  Ability to analyze moderately complex business operations and financial statements.

  •  Ability to make recommendations for approval.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school of General Educational Development (GED) diploma and five years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
