Business Systems Analyst

About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join their team. This is a finance functional role which requires deep accounting knowledge and past experience implementing financial systems. This is an individual contributor position involving working closely with both technology and finance teams.
Salary:

$150,000-$175,000 base salary
Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with teams to clarify accounting implications and process impacts from a system and automation perspective. Participate in requirements gathering sessions, draft comprehensive and precise finance requirements documents, and obtain approval from the respective process owners.
Convert intricate accounting guidelines and procedures into system requirements. Take into account the complete business processes, transaction flows, related accounting impacts, and necessary controls.
Offer perspective on solutions using comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end accounting processes and controls. Ensure transparency by communicating significant design decisions and process changes to finance stakeholders, addressing risks, resource implications, and financial impacts.
Validate solution for financial implications while providing point of view on system design, gaps and deferrals with inputs on prioritization and manual workarounds.
Collaborate with tech teams to align on testing approach and scenarios, focusing on mitigating financial risks and testing the solution against finance requirements. Verify testing evidence to ensure accuracy of accounting results, as necessary. Lead User Acceptance Testing coordination with process owners.
Lead overall change management, communication, and training for accounting process owners throughout the software lifecycle development process, aiming to avoid surprises for stakeholders. The final deliverable will be a process handoff document to facilitate knowledge transfer to process owners.
Conduct a risk-based review of monthly system releases, identifying system issues with a focus on financial risk, and manage the prioritization of backlog items and defects for resolution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar.
7+ years of functional finance & business systems experience.
5+ years of financial system implementation experience including experience on requirements documentation, solution review, and testing validation as a functional lead.
Deep understanding of accounts receivable, revenue, and deferred revenue accounting.
Ability to communicate with both accounting and technology teams.
Strong experience implementing Billing and Revenue systems.
