Position Summary

Reports to: Store Manager / Assistant Manager

As the B2B Champion (In-Store), your primary mission is to "WOW Every Customer Every Time." You are the trusted hardware consultant for local businesses, ensuring they have the supplies they need to keep their operations running smoothly.

This role focuses on "farming" inside the store—identifying business customers, building long-term relationships, and integrating a B2B culture among our staff. You will bridge the gap between our retail floor and our professional accounts, providing essential support to the Outside Sales Executive while driving growth through internal lead generation.

This is a supplementary responsibility to the associate's primary role and is not a standalone position. Associates assigned this responsibility are expected to fulfill these requirements in conjunction with the primary duties and expectations outlined in their main job description.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meet first-time and current business customers to learn their needs and introduce Ace solutions, products, and services.
  • Manage the process for capturing leads inside the store and converting them into active business accounts.
  • Research current and potential customers to understand their business and educate them on the value of working with Seright’s Ace Hardware. 
  • Conduct sales calls by phone and follow up on opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Identify growth opportunities and monitor competition pricing and assortments to ensure we remain the top choice for local pros.
  • Provide direct support to the B2B Account Executive (Outside Sales) to ensure seamless service for larger accounts.
  • Responsible for maintaining pricing and gross margin in alignment with company guidelines.
  • CRM Management (Zoho):
  • Utilize Zoho CRM daily for logging detailed updates and maintaining data integrity.
  • Prioritize and complete daily tasks, focusing on high-priority items first.
  • Accurately log all customer follow-up calls and business interactions.
  • Contact new leads, logging the results and next steps of all calls.
  • Monitor and respond to communications within Zoho TeamInbox daily.

Inventory & Special Orders

  • Provide excellent service and support for business customers including:
  • Special orders, vendor research, item sourcing, and product substitutions when    needed
  • Clear communication on pricing, availability, lead times, and fulfillment options
  • Partner with the Buyer to adjust stock levels based on business customer demands and purchasing patterns.
  • Ensure business orders are received, staged in designated areas, and customers are notified promptly for pickup or delivery.

Training & Culture

  • Work with the store manager to train, motivate, and coach all associates, on their role in the B2B process. Specifically focusing on recognizing business customers and making effective referrals.  
  • Use huddles and store meetings to share B2B success stories, celebrate wins, and keep B2B sales top-of-mind for the entire team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in B2B sales or retail sales with a proven ability to build strategic partnerships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be comfortable contacting leads via phone.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with computers (Excel, Word, Outlook), CRM’s (Zoho CRM), and comfortable learning new applications and technology.
  • Proficiency with POS functions relevant to the role, including:
  • Sales, returns, special orders, and service orders
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a clean record and be insurable.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, grasp products, and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift loads up to 50lbs unassisted and able to push and pull carts with products.

Work Environment

This is an active, fast-paced role that requires flexibility and excellent time management. You must be self-motivated and able to work independently while remaining a core part of the store team.
