We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the timely procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies needed to support production operations. Additionally, you will help maintain supplier relationships, manage purchase orders, monitor deliveries, and contribute to continuous improvement within our purchasing processes.

What You'll Do
- Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders to ensure the timely availability of materials and components needed for production.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers to confirm order receipt, delivery commitments, and shipment status.
- Monitor open purchase orders and proactively expedite materials to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Notify Planning and Scheduling teams of potential delivery delays and supply issues that could impact operations.
- Execute daily releases against blanket purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records.
- Review material requirements and place component orders using DelmiaWorks IQMS.
- Partner with Planner/Buyers to review MRP recommendations and support inventory planning activities.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving purchase order quantities, receipts, and supplier shipments.
- Perform ongoing purchase order maintenance, including reconciliation and closure of completed or obsolete orders.
- Utilize planning tools and reports to identify past-due materials and critical shortages before they affect production.
- Set up and maintain kanban systems for shop supplies and MRO inventory.
- Monitor supplier pricing and communicate cost changes to the Purchasing Manager and Planner/Buyers.
- Support supplier performance initiatives by tracking delivery, quality, and cost metrics.
- Maintain supplier scorecards and assist with supplier evaluations.
- Research and identify potential new suppliers to support business needs and supply chain objectives.
What We're Looking For
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience purchasing raw materials and production components.
- Strong understanding of supplier management and procurement processes.
- Experience working within an ERP/MRP system.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and effectively communicate across departments.
- Resourceful problem-solver who can proactively identify and address supply risks.
