ABOUT THE ROLE
Compal is a leading innovator dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering advanced solutions to our clients. We are seeking a Buyer that will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers for automotive components, materials, and services. This role ensures that procurement activities deliver competitive cost, quality, and delivery performance, while supporting product development, production ramp-up, and ongoing manufacturing programs. The Buyer collaborates closely with engineering, logistics, finance, quality, and supplier management teams to drive strategic purchasing decisions and support business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, finance, quality and supply chain teams to align procurement strategies with technical specifications, cost targets, and production timelines.
· Lead procurement activities for new product introductions (NPI), sourcing components such as sensors, optics, and mechanical and electrical parts for both local and global manufacturing sites.
· Manage the purchase of MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) materials, including facility consumables and critical operational supplies to ensure uninterrupted production.
· Source and procure laboratory equipment, tooling, and specialized components to support prototype builds, validation testing, and engineering development activities.
· Support supplier selection processes, including RFQs/RFPs, commercial evaluations, and contract negotiations to secure favorable pricing, terms, and delivery performance.
· Maintain accurate and compliant procurement records, including purchase orders, pricing agreements, supplier data, and inventory transactions within ERP/MRP systems.
· Support global logistics activities, including import/export requirements, freight optimization, and delivery scheduling across international suppliers.
· Monitor and analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supply risks within the automotive electronics sector to inform sourcing strategies and mitigate disruptions.
· Drive cost-reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering, should-cost analysis, and supplier consolidation efforts.
· Conduct and support supplier audits, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure quality, delivery, and compliance standards are achieved.
· Issue and manage purchase orders (POs), ensuring accuracy, proper authorization, and on-time delivery of goods and services.
· Actively monitor supplier performance metrics (OTD, quality, cost), resolving issues related to delays, nonconformance, or commercial discrepancies.
· Identify and implement process improvements across the procurement function to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and optimize total cost of ownership (TCO).
· Ensure strict compliance with internal procurement policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, including automotive quality expectations.
· Prepare and present detailed reports on purchasing activities, spend analytics, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives to management.
