Job Description - Buyer

Assists the Supply Chain Manager and performs a variety of purchasing functions, including selecting products, placing orders, negotiating/interacting with vendors, securing bids and quotes, equipment and service contracts in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. Utilizing resources to obtain the most cost-effective and quality products for Day Kimball Healthcare and Day Kimball Medical Group
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs daily activities of purchase order composition, order management, pricing and order placement; maintaining awareness of product changes and Day Kimball Healthcare’s contracted products. Identifies vendor and product standardization opportunities, contract and cost saving opportunities and maximized contracted service providers across all facilities of the Day Kimball Healthcare system. Follows up as needed until items are received and accepted according to established protocol/procedures. Conveys information to and assists clients, buyers and department staff in an accurate, courteous and respectful manner.
Resolves problems and discrepancies such as expediting orders that are past due, solving receiving and invoicing problems, processing returns and maintaining the integrity of the data base.
May be responsible for handling purchasing responsibilities for particular vendors or special projects under Supply Chain Manager supervision. Works effectively as a team member to provide quality through communication, cooperation and collaboration. Provides coverage/support for the Supply Chain Manager position as needed.

Education:
Associates Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience:
3-5 years in Healthcare Materials Management purchasing experience preferred.
Prior computer experience with word processing, spreadsheets, purchasing application, web-based ordering and electronic data interchange required.
Prior experience with purchasing contracts preferred.
