Buyer / Planner

OrthAlign, Inc., a Smart Technology, growing medical device company, has an immediate opening for a Buyer/Planner responsible for creating, managing, and maintaining purchase orders to ensure supplies and equipment are readily available to consistently meet production schedules, cost reduction goals, and quality initiatives.

You must have the ability to report daily to our headquarters in Irvine, California. 

You will:

• Convert purchase requests to purchase orders for the procurement of raw materials, finished assemblies, services, engineering materials, sales materials, track and manage KPIs, etc.


• Create POs choosing vendor based on supply availability, price, and delivery time


• Monitor the delivery of materials and services to meet schedules


• Monitor inventory levels to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained


• Monitor SIOP demand to ensure steady supply of raw materials


• Develop and write procurement strategies for supplier qualifications, specifications, and evaluation requirements


• Acquire and maintain technical understanding for materials purchased along with their cost drivers


• Manage and collaborate with contract manufacturer on daily output and needs


• Identify and launch new suppliers that will specifically address organizational needs


• Manage sourcing projects, key initiatives, and supplier negotiations


• Manage vendors/suppliers


• Identify and launch new suppliers that will specifically address organizational needs


• Work with vendors to ensure quality, technical support, process control, service and lowest costs are achieved


• Meet with vendors to discuss current performance and continuous improvement initiatives


• Resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors


• Track and manage PPV working with Finance to meet their reporting requirements

You need:

• Your BA/BS degree and 1+ years experience or 4+ years of experience in the medical device manufacturing


• Strong proficiency using MS Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Results-oriented with appropriate urgency and follow-up


• Ability to work as a collaborative team member as well as independently


• Excellent attention to detail, producing high quality output


• Flexibility and strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks


• Applies sound judgment when making decisions and communicating with peers and management


• Medical device industry experience strongly preferred


• Proven supplier negotiation skills resulting in shorter lead time and cost reduction


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment


• Experience with and use of ERP systems


• Negotiates prices and contracts with suppliers
