Job Description - Buyer/Planner II

Job Summary


The Buyer/Planner II performs all assigned buying functions for GMP manufacturing materials and services needed to support client requirements, manufacturing activities, and operations; with the objective of maximizing material availability while maintaining a strategic inventory plan.


The Buyer/Planner II requires a multifaceted skill set involving procurement, supply chain management, inventory control, supplier relationship management, and quality assurance. They must embody Cellipont's core values by working collaboratively, building strong relationships, and using clear communication to meet shared objectives. This role reports directly to the Director of Supply Chain for Woodlands facility and is pivotal in ensuring timely flow of materials management, and supporting the organization's commitment to Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).


The Role



  • Responsible for the supply of all materials to support production at The Woodlands facility

  • Identify issues and resolves problems regarding materials. Supports problem resolution and communication to all affected internal departments.

  • Lead investigations related to material discrepancies and other events

  • Generate and issues purchase orders (PO) to Suppliers in accordance with Approved Suppliers and ensures timely approval of PO's with associated approval chain

  • Maintain trackers of Order status, PO status, lead time, and receipt for all goods

  • Source new suppliers, vendors, distributors as needed based on input from Formulations and Operations

  • Monitor and adjust open PO's and supplier commitments

  • Resolves 3-way match issues to ensure timely supplier payment.

  • Maintain inventory levels consistent with site policies and goals. Quarterly adjusts safety stock levels in JDE based on self-analysis of inventory levels

  • Review excess & obsoletes inventory and provides supporting data to seek customer reimbursement for customer owned materials.

  • Process materials for shipment including material samples and supports shipment documentation preparation.

  • Process all assigned CAPEX equipment, non-CAPEX equipment, and MRO buying functions needed to support short and long-term company growth; to minimize cost while meeting all project timelines and deliverables.

  • Manage orders to ensure materials meet the required delivery schedule(s) and comply with GMP requirements.

  • All other duties as assigned;


Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED is required, Bachelors Degree or Associates Degree in life science, supply chain, or business is preferred

  • With a Bachelors degree, 5 or more years of experience in a similar role are required

  • With an Associates or High School Diploma/GED, 4 or more years of experience in a similar role is required

  • 3 or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, or the ability to demonstrate adequate knowledge of controls and requirements in a pharmaceutical environment is required

  • Can demonstrate the successful development and implementation of sourcing strategies

  • Clear knowledge and understanding of supply market, industry and category dynamics

  • A successful track record leading and managing complex negotiations

  • Demonstrates strong business judgment and critical thinking to create and evaluate innovative options and uses a fact-based decision-making process to develop and implement strategies that will drive positive results and deliver value

  • Effectively assesses risk and implements mitigation plans to either prevent or minimize impact to ensure business continuity

  • Prior experience leading projects

  • Previous ERP/MRP systems experience required

  • Practical knowledge of lean supply practices a plus.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Excel and Outlook.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

  • Ability to work off-shift and extra hours as required

  • Weekends & Holidays as required
