(C) Senior Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion, General)

Secret Clearance, US Citizenship, Background Investigation and CAC are required for this position. This position is contingent on clients approval of candidate.
 

Senior-level Marine Mechanical Engineer (Propulsion) will support the United States Coast Guard (USCG)’s Ship Design Team in Washington, DC. An ideal candidate will have prior experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and/or conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components, as well as familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations. 

Provide technical support and documentation design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, to include, but not limited to: power supply and propulsion systems.

Research and develop ship propulsion systems, to include, but not limited to: diesels, gas turbines, diesel-electric systems, propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, seals, noise, vibration, and interfaces with dynamic positioning systems, and apply to applicable design and requirements.

Develop system documentation and ship specifications.

Design, develop and evaluate operation of marine vessels, shipboard propulsion machinery, and review and develop technical data packages, provide oversight on development of machinery arrangements, conduct and oversee trade studies. 

Education/Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant technical, engineering, or a marine discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.

At least six (6) years of progressive experience in Marine Mechanical Engineering fields.

Overall experience should include developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on the configuration of propulsion and associated components.

At least one (1) year of experience related to U.S. Federal or commercial ship or boat building acquisition programs required.

Knowledge of ABS, NVR, and commercial ship design rules and regulations.

Proficient with common productivity software.
