Cable Splicer Helper\n\nReq ID: CABLE013849 \nJob Title: Cable Splicer Helper \nLocation: 8304 N MAIN STREET, BAYTOWN, TX 77521 \nUnion: CWA 6171 - CBA 048 \nHiring Manager: Shawn Connary \n# of Openings: 1 \nPosting Dates: 3/12/2026 - 3/26/26 \nWage Range: $15.64 - $30.00 per hour\n\nSummary \nConnects, rearranges, repairs and maintains outside cable; climbs poles, works aloft on platforms as well as under ground in manholes, cable vaults and ditches. Performs other duties as may be assigned.\n\nGeneral Duties \nDuties include, but are not limited to, the following: \n\u2022 Wears appropriate safety apparel and is aware of and follows all established safety practices and procedures. \n\u2022 Loads necessary tools, material and equipment on Company vehicles and drives or rides to work locations. \n\u2022 Connects and rearranges cable facilities associated with aerial, buried, underground and in buildings according to engineering design by utilizing hand tools and specialized equipment. \n\u2022 Utilizes special test equipment to test for and locate cable trouble and perform cable completion tests. \n\u2022 Works with open flame and hot liquids such as molten lead to make airtight closures on cable sleeves. \n\u2022 Reads and interprets work prints and diagrams and is familiar with current practices pertinent to each job assignment. \n\u2022 Climbs poles; works aloft on platforms or in vehicle-mounted buckets; enters tunnels, buildings, trenches, splice pits, cable vaults and manholes. \n\u2022 Uses test equipment to check for gas in manholes and empties water and debris from manholes. \n\u2022 Operates power equipment such as pumps, compressors, blowers, backhoes and trenchers. \n\u2022 Monitors and ensures proper cable pressurization is maintained. \n\u2022 Inspects vehicles for safe operating conditions, and ensures proper servicing is done on such vehicles. \n\u2022 Maintains accuracy in all reporting functions. \n\u2022 Works long hours during cutovers, emergency conditions or in inclement weather. Work may be performed aloft in winter or at night; also in dirty, damp manholes often in awkward positions. Work involves considerable eye concentration. Repair work is done under the pressure of time. \n\u2022 Heavy lifting may be required in handling tools, materials and supplies. \n\u2022 May be required to work day, evening or night tours, overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends and out-of-town assignments as required. \n\u2022 Plans and supervises work of cable splicer helper. \n\u2022 Classroom training may be away from home location. \n\u2022 May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.\n\nBasic Qualifications \n\u2022 Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy. \n\u2022 Must be able to read, write and perform the following mathematical calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. \n\u2022 Previous experience as a Cable Splicer Helper or other related experience would be helpful. \n\u2022 Must have ability to distinguish true colors. \n\u2022 Normal hearing; must be able to distinguish tones. \n\u2022 Requires climbing poles/ladders up to 60 feet. \n\u2022 Requires frequent lifting up to 75 pounds; occasional lifting up to 150 pounds. \n\u2022 Frequent reaching or moving of heavy objects by shoving or pulling with arms and hands. \n\u2022 May require frequent stooping and crawling in restricted area, including vaults. \n\u2022 Requires prolonged standing and off-balanced positioning while working aloft. \n\u2022 May work outdoors in all weather conditions. \n\u2022 Valid state driver\u0027s license. \n\u2022 Ability to drive vehicle with manual gear shift.\n\nTraining \n\u2022 Classroom and on-the-job training. \n\n \n\n \n\nWe are deeply committed to attracting talented team members in the US from all backgrounds regardless of race, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability status, or nationality.
