The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable systems specifically for manufacturing facilities and company office spaces. This role involves working with various communication technologies, including network cabling for internet, phone, and internal communication systems, ensuring proper installation, signal strength, and functionality within industrial and office environments. The Cable Technician will troubleshoot issues, provide support to clients, and maintain accurate records of work completed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, repair, and maintain cable systems in manufacturing facilities and company offices, including internet, phone lines, and internal communication networks.
- Run and terminate network cabling through industrial spaces, walls, ceilings, and office layouts while adhering to safety standards.
- Test and troubleshoot network performance, signal strength, and connectivity issues.
- Configure and activate network devices such as modems, routers, switches, and other communication hardware.
- Collaborate with IT departments to ensure seamless integration of cable installations with company systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and any issues encountered during installation or maintenance.
- Ensure installations comply with company standards, local codes, and safety regulations, particularly within industrial and office environments.
- Perform regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed to minimize downtime in manufacturing operations.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal teams, resolving technical issues on-site and answering questions related to network functionality.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in cable installation, telecommunications, or a related field is preferred, particularly in industrial or office environments.
- Strong understanding of network cabling, phone systems, and internet infrastructure.
- Experience working in manufacturing facilities or large office complexes is a plus.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving network connectivity issues.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Comfortable working in both office and industrial environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment, climb ladders, and navigate through industrial areas.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The role requires working in both office and industrial environments, including manufacturing floors with potential noise, dust, or varying temperatures.
- May need to work in small, confined spaces or at heights within facilities.
- Some weekend, evening, or holiday work may be required to minimize downtime in manufacturing operations.
