Cad Technician

Job Functions:

• Create Pre-bid models to generate quantity reports for the Estimating Department
• Create project models to support the Survey Department with accurate survey data for field crews and machine control systems
• Create horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, profiles, and digital terrain models
• Utilize methods for importing and exporting field data with Trimble Business Center and data collectors
• Import and generate as-built models periodically and at the end of the project
• Export and imports of models for machine control
• Check and perform calculations
• Track and make changes of addendums, change orders, and RFI’s to maintain up to date TBC models
• Generate Cut/Fill reports
• Generate Bridge calculations
• Communicate and report any issues or concerns found with the construction plans  
• Enforce safety protocols during field work and maintain a safe working environment

General and Technical Competency:

• Familiarized with Trimble Business Center or related CAD software
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail skills
• Must have algebra and geometry skills to perform calculations such as area, volume, circumference, etc.
• Ability to work in a team environment or independently on multiple projects at the same time
• Ability to understand construction plans and specifications
• Ability to travel to job sites. Valid driver’s license is required
• Plans available time to efficiently complete assigned tasks
• Is dependable, meets deadlines and produces high-quality work
• Is responsive to inquiries and assignments in a timely manner

Experience and Education:

• 1-3+ years of experience in surveying and heavy civil construction
• Experience with Trimble Business Center or related CAD software is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
