General Position Description: Oversees the daily operation and management of the Main Street Café. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees daily restaurant operations, including opening/closing procedures. Prepares schedules, ensures all training is current and distributes work assignments. Monitors hours, ensuring all assigned work is being done and supported employees are receiving adequate job coaching. 
  • Prepares menu items and make changes as appropriate. Trains staff and supported employees on proper preparation of menu items and trained in proper food handling and monitor performances. Monitors and maintains food quality, presentation, and service standards.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally. Assists to resolve and train supported employees to provide appropriate levels of customer service. 
  • Maintains a welcoming and clean environment to enhance the dining experience. Oversees the maintenance of records and files for the café. 
  • Works with the team to monitor budgets, sales, and profit margins. Oversees the POS system and ensures all employees and supported employees are trained on the system. Works with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. Assists in the implementation of strategies to meet revenue and cost-control targets. Checks daily cash/credit reconciliation reports and reports discrepancies.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory and assures that it is updated at least monthly and/or as shipments are received. 
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Assists in maintaining records for the Department of Labor sub-minimum wage certificate and payroll and payroll records for all Café Supported Employees. 
  • Assists in the design and implementation procedures for all aspects of the café.
  • Inspects café and equipment to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance are being done on a scheduled basis.
  • Be creative in defining café jobs that can be done with clients in the DTA and increase their participation in the café. Track client participation and volunteer hours. 
  • Provide a broad range of administrative and supervisory functions. Supervises assigned staff in accordance with EBF personnel practices including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and day to day scheduling. Participates in the process of ongoing professional development. Maintains comprehensive communication among all contacts within the agency, members, and external agencies. Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with EBF Code of Conduct, Strategic Plan, Mission, and Vision. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  •  High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of food industry experience and 1 year of supervisory experience required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.  

Regulatory 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Current, unrestricted AZ driver’s license with no more than two (2) minor moving violations or one (1) accident within the past three (3 years). 
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an AZ DPS Level 1 fingerprint clearance card (employer provides).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, Article IX, Abuse and Neglect, and Prevention & Supports certification (paid training). 
  • Ability to obtain within 90 days of hire and maintain the Manager Food Handlers certification (Employer provides).

Skills/Job Knowledge/Abilities: Able to establish and maintain a team atmosphere of communication and collaboration for all that reach out to the Department. Must be self-directed and be sensitive to cultural and linguistic diversity. Excellent customer service in stressful situations. Maintains a professional in appearance, communications, and actions. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Basic knowledge of working in a restaurant, managing employees, policies, practices, and procedures. Possess a high level of computer proficiency. 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): Normal Restaurant environment with multiple interruptions in person and through computer and phone. Interacts with employees and members of the public on a daily basis. High food and customer service activity environment. Able to lift up to 50lbs to support member care. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and to assess the wellbeing of members. Able to speak clearly in conversations, general communications and to communicate verbally with members and emergency personnel as needed for daily operations. Hearing ability for communication in persona, phone, and/or other electronic methods. Manual dexterity to assist members with paperwork and cafe functions. Able to stoop, squat, reach, pull, push, stretch, ascend and descend stairs, stand and sit for long periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
