About the Role:
Join the vibrant team at Cafe Sylvia, where we serve delicious breakfast food and create memorable experiences for our guests. As a Server, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Cafe Sylvia is located on the lower level of the newly renovated Hotel Sylvia and will welcome hotel guests and the public. Cafe Sylvia will serve a casual breakfast with locally sourced ingredients and cuisine from 8 AM to 11 AM daily.

Sylvia Beach, the pioneering founder of the iconic Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris, continues, as it has for decades from the previous owners, to serve as our muse for Hotel Sylvia in Newport, Oregon.
Emphasizing her commitment to community, we’ve created a space that encourages meaningful relationships and heartfelt connections. At Hotel Sylvia, you can disconnect from daily distractions and embrace genuine experiences, reminiscent of the vibrant gatherings at Beach’s bookstore. Located in the charming Nye Beach neighborhood, our hotel invites you to unwind and enjoy the relaxed pace and refreshing sea breeze.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and welcome guests with a friendly demeanor.
- Take and process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Deliver food and beverages to tables promptly.
- Provide menu recommendations and answer questions about food and drinks.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dining area.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
- Handle cash and process payments with attention to detail.
- Maintain a positive and energetic attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a server in a restaurant or cafe setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Positive attitude and a passion for customer service.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
