Position Title: Café/Pizzeria Manager

Program: Timmy’s Place Pizzeria and Print

Classification: Non-exempt, Full Time

Salary:  $21 - $26 per hour; Commensurate with Experience

Summary and Range of Authority:   Under the supervision of the UPAC Kitchen Manager, the Cafe/Pizzeria Manager will provide: 1) management of Timmy’s Place café and pizza operations, 2) produce and supervise staff in making various pizzas, 3) produce and supervise staff in making various espresso based drinks and teas, 4) supervise facility leads and line staff and 5) accountable for food quality control, customer service, and overall efficiency.

Timmy’s Place Pizzeria and Print is a social enterprise comprised of a pizzeria/café and print shop. It is an innovative partnership between UPAC and Urban Street Angels that trains, employs, and mentors  transition aged youth who are experiencing homelessness and funded by The Legacy Foundation and Lucky Duck Foundation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manage day-to-day operations of the café/pizzeria 

· Responsible for daily food prep including, but not limited to: dough, pizza toppings, pasta, greens, cheese, and sandwich meats 

· Responsible for daily drink prep including but not limited to: espresso related drinks, teas, slushies, cold brew coffee, and boba drinks, 

· Responsible for day-to-day customer service ranging from general hospitality to handling customer complaints 

· Supervision of all food and drink products and handling for quality and to ensure Timmy’s standards

· Monitor, anticipate, and maintain all food and drink related inventory and supply levels

· Monitor for compliance with all health and safety standards

· Ability to plan, develop, and produce new food items

· Responsible for maintaining the highest cleanliness and hygiene standard in the kitchen

· Responsible for monitoring of food inventory and daily food volume to reduce waste and spoilage

· Responsible for purchasing/ordering food and non-consumable products needed for day-to-day operations 

· Will require proper selection, purchasing, and transportation of food other café needs

· May work outside of the kitchen to provide support to social enterprise business event

· Conduct outreach to businesses as needed

· Attend required staff meetings and/or trainings within UPAC

· Complete monthly reports as required

· Attend meetings or trainings on behalf of UPAC Kitchen Manager as requested

· Other duties as assigned by UPAC Kitchen Manager

Required Education, Certifications/Licenses and Language/Cultural Skills: 

· Valid Food Manager Certification or ability and willingness to attain one

Minimum Experience and Qualifications Required:

• 3  years’ experience in food industry in a management position OR at least 1  year experience with pizzeria management
• 1  year experience with pizza dough handling or comparable skill set
• Have a positive attitude, ability to work well with others and good  communication skills
• Familiarity with industry's best practices
• Demonstrate leadership skills; responsible, mature, self- motivated and able to lead and inspire others
• Must be comfortable working with individuals with severe mental illness and high-risk youth
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including cultural competency in working with people of various cultural and economic backgrounds
• Must demonstrate beginner level of computer literacy and experience using  office productivity software i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point,  Internet browsers, and Outlook. 
• Must pass background check (Live Scan Fingerprint).
• Must pass drug test (results shall be negative for all illegal drug use      including marijuana).
• Must have TB clearance.
• Must be able to drive for business purposes to other program locations in San Diego County.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license and comprehensive automobile insurance coverage, as required by law. 
• Will not be debarred or excluded from participation in Federal programs by the General Services Administration and/or the Department of Health and Human Services of the Inspector General.

Additional Preferred Education or Qualifications:

• Competency with espresso machine operations and espresso based drinks
• Experience working in a mental health setting and/or working with youth
• Experience teaching others 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Spends approximately 20% of work time sitting and meeting with others or working at a desk and/or computer. Spends approximately 80% of work time standing or walking within the work area that may include frequent bends, twists, stoops and reaches. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally. Frequent lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Working conditions and noise level are normal and in-line with that of a fast-casual restaurant setting.
