Job Description - Cage Construction/Repair Technician

Description

Marshall Farms Cage Construction/Repair Technician is directly responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy animal environment by building new animal housing enclosures, inspecting, repairing and maintaining the existing animal housing enclosures as directed by the Supervisor Cage Construction/Repair.

Duties include:

  • Perform routine cage repairs of animal cages.
  • Building of new animal housing enclosures.
  • Framing of the plastic lumber, feed drops, feed switches, waterlines and the fulling assemble of the animal housing enclosures.
  • The removal/ demolish of old animal housing.
  • Move animals using proper handling techniques in order to preform needed repair
  • Need to be able to use a variety of hand, power and construction tools.
  • Use a Laser/Transit to be able to height/elevation of the animal housing
  • Make waterline repairs, as needed
  • Make Repair to feed string, feed switches, as needed,
  • Identify pen repair as needs and make needed repairs.
  • Grinding and Cutting cage parts.
  • Assist with assembly of cage parts.
  • Auger feed;
  • Ensure that all entry and biosecurity procedures are followed

The ideal candidate would also have some welding skills, preferrably stainless welding. We are looking for an individual that is self driven, motivated, and an effective communication; someone that will set an example for the rest of the team.

Work Conditions:

Conditions are often hot and humid, with frequent animal contact. This position requires you to climb into animal cages to make necessary repairs. Duties are performed primarily on 1st shift with varying extended hours including occasional weekend work.

This position is a grade N4 with a pay range of $20.09 - $30.15/hour

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of one year of experience with stick-built framing, and/or fabrication.

Driver's License is required.  

Individual must have:

Ability to read a ruler and measure with accuracy

Ability to level and square construction to ensure uniform construction

Ability to read diagrams and building layouts

Attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

Work is physically demanding with a requirement to lift animals. Job duties may be performed while wearing personal protective equipment.

Must be able to operate equipment but not limit to Small motorized buggies, Payloader, Front tractor loader, feed auger and a feed vacuum.
